TranZen Homestead

A Solution for Homelessness

"Hi, I'm Phong Tran, CEO and founder of TranZen Homestead, a non-profit, self-sustaining program to provide housing and jobs for homeless veterans. Being a refugee from Vietnam as a boy, stranded on a deserted island, then living on a refugee island with my family for years, I have a deep understanding and compassion for the unhoused. My program will help many struggling people heal and prosper again. Watch these videos, TranZen Homestead Part 1 and Part 2 to learn more about us and where we are headed. We're doing great things, please join us on this epic journey!

TranZen Homestead: A Community for Homeless Veterans. We are a non-profit, registered 501c-3 and we're creating a permaculture community where homeless veterans will be able to live completely off the grid in shipping container homes. There, they will have jobs and pay back into a self-sustaining community with fruit trees, chicken coups, aquaponic systems, etc. A large plot of land has already been purchased that will be used to accommodate our plans. Once completed, our model can be replicated elsewhere with the proper funding.

We've done a lot so far and are very proud of our accomplishments - read more here for details on our amazing journey thus far. However, we're only at the tip of the iceberg for turning TranZen Homestead into a new way of living, learning, giving back and enabling others with the skills and mindsets for moving on. We're dedicated to our veterans, the disabled and those struggling to get back on their feet. We're looking for volunteers and donations to help us solve our homelessness in our home, California and beyond.

100% of your donation will go towards the TranZen Homestead

Each container comfortably accommodates four individuals, or two couples in separate quarters.

Our homestead members work on the property to learn new skills, plant trees, harvest, and care for chickens.

Our aquaponic system creates sustainable plant using ingenious and efficient methods.

A path around the homestead will promote exercise and good health; with promotional races and special events to raise awareness and generate revenue.

We help our residents adopt pets to complete their families.  We will work with the animal shelters to rescue these animals so that less would have to be euthanized.

Qualified, designated residents will transport others to and from work, appointments and stores. They'll take produce to farmers markets and run errands for the community.
